West of Hechingen, somewhat remote, is the Lindich pleasure and hunting lodge. Prince Ludwig had it built between 1738 and 1741 in the Rococo style based on the French model. It is surrounded by six cavalier houses for the servants and management. The complex is said to have served as a model for Duke Karl Eugen of Württemberg when building the Solitude.

Famous personalities were guests here: Napoleon III, Uhland, Hektor Berlioz, Franz Liszt. Princess Eugenie lived here before she was able to move into Villa Eugenia. The front garden between the castle and the cavalier's house is criss-crossed with four radial walkways. After the Second World War, the Lindich housed a medicinal plant institute for a while. In 1984, an 18-member community of buyers acquired the baroque palace complex from the Hohenzollern Sigmaringen family and converted it into residential property in 1987.

Unfortunately private property - only view through the spikes of the fence.

There are now condominiums in the building.

There are 6 cavalier houses around the castle: an orangery, two residential buildings - one of which now houses an Italian restaurant -, two horse stables, the kitchen building, all of which have also been converted into residential buildings. At least that’s what Wikipedia says. The court used to be accommodated here.

At least the pizzeria is public: Here you can enjoy the flair of the complex - without having to own a home.

If the restaurant is allowed to reopen, it is definitely worth a stop.
