Kaiser Wilhelm II had this obelisk erected in the Döberitzer Heide in 1904. The Döberitzer Heide had been used as a military training ground since the 18th century. The monument was originally intended to commemorate Frederick the Great, who is said to have held important maneuvers here for the Seven Years' War.Today, the obelisk serves more as a memorial against war, for with it, the renaturalized Döberitzer Heide has also regained its peace.

Memorial stone from 1903 for the first military maneuver in the Döberitzer Heide in 1753. Although under monument protection, the condition is very pathetic, and there is no corresponding sign.

You can turn a little extra loop around the obelisk. Even if the decorations are missing, you have a great view over the meadows from there.
