Great cave, with very interesting information provided. The hiking trail leads directly through the cave.

In 1904, the Wildkirchli caves achieved fame through prehistoric finds of stone tools, which for the first time provided evidence that humans had walked through the Alpine region in the Paleolithic Age (45,000 - 30,000 BC). The caves were probably used by hunters and collectors as a hunting station in summer. In addition to stone tools, the remains of cave bears were also found.
In the hermit house, in the middle of the rock wall, various objects from everyday prehistoric life can be admired. There you will learn interesting facts about the history of the Wildkirchli caves and the life of the cave inhabitants.

It was a beautiful day and after a walk around Seealpsee we went up to Escher. This is one of the oldest mountain guesthouses in Switzerland. During the walk you will pass through caves where cavemen once lived, animal bones, apparently bears, have been found. Just outside the caves you will see the Wildkirchli (chapel). And when you turn the corner, you will see such a wonderful and impressive view in front of you.
