Bosa is a lively and colorful town of around 8,000 people, in the province of Oristano, along the west coast of Sardinia (Italy). It is situated on a small hill on the north bank of the Temo River.
The area was inhabited since prehistorical times, as attested by the presence of several "domus de janas" and "nuraghe". It was probably founded by the Phoenicians, although little is known about the original settlement. Under the Romans it was a municipium.
The present town of Bosa was founded in 1112 by the Malaspina, who built their castle on the top of the hill.
Bosa is also famous for its "Malvasia di Bosa" (a sweet white wine), for the manufacturing of coral, gold filigree and embroideries, as well as for its fantastic, unspoiled coast and many important folk or religious events...
