Bike Touring Highlight
The small and the large Markgrafenstein in the Rauener mountains are two imposing natural monuments from the last ice age. The small Markgrafenstein is the largest foundling on one level in Germany. Incidentally, boulders are usually a single, very large stone, which was transported through glaciers during the ice ages and quasi deposited at its present location. That's what makes these stones so special. These come from Scandinavia. The large margrave stone originally had about 300m ^ 3 volume, but was split in 3 parts at the beginning of the 18th century, and was used among other things for the large bowl in front of the Altes Museum in Berlin.
