The previous church was built in the 13th or 14th century as a Catholic church. The current cathedral building dates from the middle of the 15th century and became Protestant after the Reformation.

Road cycling

In the 2nd World War completely destroyed cathedral. Meanwhile restored and inaugurated in 1995. From the original dome there are only a few (remainder) pillars and epitaphs left. Nevertheless, or maybe just because worth seeing, since no original restoration was tried. Fürstenwalde adorns itself with the name Domstadt
