The Getzbach rises in the high moor of the so-called Brackvenn, in an area around the N 67 Monschau - Eupen, near the German state border at Mützenich and flows into the Wesertalsperre, where it, together with the water of the Hill, runs over a 1.5 km long tunnel is brought up, the Getzbacharm forms.

The swampy headwaters of the Getzbach, with its water-filled pals, is located in the restricted-access nature reserve. Since May 2010, the headwaters in the northern Brackvenn have been populated by numerous beaver families who, with their activities in the sense of the renaturation of the former marshland, are causing a backwater of the water that is now quite desirable.
