The botanical garden is a very special Bielefeld "gem": one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in the city. Located directly on the southern slope of the Teutoburg Forest, its vegetation over 4 hectares and over 2,500 plant species is exceptionally dense, exotic and diverse. The Bielefeld Botanical Garden was created in 1912. To this day, it brings the beauty of nature closer to Bielefeld residents.

In 2012 the Bielefeld Botanical Garden celebrated its 100th anniversary. It is attractively located on the Kahlenberg near the center and offers visitors a varied picture. Not only those interested in botany, but also walkers like the enormous scope of the plant collection as well as the diverse garden design elements.
Regardless of whether you are more interested in trees or flowers, everyone can discover their favorite plant in the botanical garden!
Special highlights are the rhododendrons and azaleas collections as well as the presentation of the different habitats: rock garden, alpine garden, medicinal and spice garden, heather garden and beech forest flora - to name just a few. Children are usually particularly interested in the playground.
The environmental company of the city of Bielefeld designs, maintains and maintains the botanical garden. The external link friends of the Bielefeld Botanical Garden were founded in 1998 to provide non-material and financial support. In close cooperation, the gardeners and the members of the development association attach great importance to the aspects of landscape culture and garden monument preservation.
