The Hase is a river in Lower Saxony that is 168 kilometers long. It rises in the Teutoburg Forest and flows in a northwesterly direction through Osnabrück and on into the Lower Saxony lowlands. At Quakenbrück the Hare divides into the Big and the Little Hare before reuniting at Herzlake. The region around Quakenbrück, the Artland, is known for its fertile soils, which were created by deposits from the Hase and its tributaries. The Hase finally flows into the Ems near Meppen.
