The Stauferzeitliche castle Hohenhundersingen is one of the most beautiful of the Lautertal. Builders were the lords of Hundersingen, which appear in the written sources for the first time in the 12th century. Readings point to an edification in the late 12th or early 13th century. The castle is secured by a deep moat opposite the Alb plateau. The present access (iron staircase) was created in 1898, originally the castle could not be entered from this side. The tower, which is built out of humpback blocks, has a floor area of about 4x5 meters and is thus much smaller than most of the known castle towers. The access, a round arched gate over six meters high, could be reached via a ladder. It is possible that only the lower terrace was inhabited, where today a wall with a window opening is preserved.

The most beautiful castle in the Lauter valley. Free-standing as historically it must be.
