A high wall prevents the grounds of Drove Castle, located in the Kreuzau village of Drove, from being visible from the outside. Only the imposing gate, whose gable façade is crowned by an alliance coat of arms, allows passing hikers a glimpse of the private grounds—which are thus hidden from the public eye.

The von Rohe family built the new moated castle Drove from 1728 to 1741, which is still preserved today. The coat of arms above the castle gate shows on the left that of the Baron von Rohe (silver St. Andrew's Cross on a red background) and on the right that of Anna Elisabeth von Blankart (silver hammer on a blue background), a widow of Vlatten. It is a three-wing, two-storey building in the Baroque style made of quarry stone with hipped roofs. In front of the manor house is a formerly three-winged outer bailey, which has only had one wing since a great fire in 1893. Around 1920, a single-storey extension was added to the south-east and south-west corner of the manor house. The servants' quarters in the inner courtyard of the castle dates from 1929. The extension on the south-west corner of the manor house was so thoroughly destroyed in the Second World War that it was never rebuilt. The other war damage was repaired. The castle is now privately owned and inhabited. Source: Wikipedia
