The Unesco Global Geo Park De hondsrug is located between Haren and the Winschoterdiep. The site is 1.3 km to the east from the Kerklaan and Oosterweg intersection in Haren.

Traces of farms from the Iron Age and Roman times have been found, among other things. Objects have also been excavated from flint from the Funnel Beaker culture, the time of the hunebed builders.

Traces of a farm from the late Iron Age (around 200 BC) have been found on the site. On the basis of this a reconstruction was made of the skeleton of the farm. If you walk the Pieterpad, you will also pass here.
