The Rothschildschloss is named after the Frankfurt banker Carly Mayer von Rothschild, who bought the villa in Italian style and expanded it to its current appearance. After several changes of ownership, the villa became the property of the city of Bensheim. Today, the city administration is housed in the lovingly restored villa.
