In the former game park, a forest area southwest of Ballenstedt, is just over a kilometer from the castle, the last resting place of Wilhelmine von Buttlar. She was a friend of Maria Friederika of Hesse-Kassel, the wife of the Duke Alexius of Anhalt-Bernburg and, at the beginning of the 18th century, a lady-in-waiting in the Ballenstedt castle.
