The Königsstuhl, also called Königstuhl, near Dannenfels in the Rhineland-Palatinate Donnersbergkreis is a striking rock formation, and its summit is the highest point on the 686.5 m above sea level. NHN high Donnersberg, the highest mountain in the North Palatinate highlands and in the Palatinate. The name is based on the fact that the rock masses protruding from the environment resemble with a lot of imagination a throne.

The Donnersberg is of volcanic origin and stands out clearly from the surrounding area. However, it did not come to an outbreak here. The ascending magma cooled below the surface of the earth and after the surrounding layers were eroded by erosion, the cooled hard magma rock (rhyolite) forms the mountain today.
Numerous beautiful hiking trails stretch across the wooded massif. A popular destination with great vantage points.
