In the arboretum there are many walking paths that lead past many native and sometimes exotic tree species. Names of the trees are usually attached to the respective groups of trees, if you want to know more about it, you should have previously inquired on the Internet or the administration. There are guides and brochures.

Trees of the World - Forests of the World
With an area of around 250 hectares and around 100 different types of deciduous and coniferous trees from almost all continents of the world, the Arboretum Burgholz in the state enterprise forest and wood NRW is the largest cultivation area with foreign tree species in Germany.
At the beginning of the 1970s, the State Forest Administration's experimental cultivation area for foreign conifers was put to the fore from the end of the 1990s on the aspect of the forestry training garden and the forest areas of the foreign tree species have been referred to as "arboretum" (arbor, lat. = Tree) since 1999. Today Burgholz once again has a leading role in the association of forest test areas in North Rhine-Westphalia. The oldest plantings are around 55 years old today.
Three short circular hiking trails - Trees of the World - convey impressions of individual tree species from North America, Asia and Europe.

The arboretum is a must-see. And in summer, pay attention to the scent of the various conifers
