Nice tour if you do it from Malbun over the Silberhorn. Don't be alarmed if there are a lot of people on the summit. You can take the chairlift to Sareis from the other side. From there the route is relatively easy and therefore very busy.

From here you have a great all-round view over large parts of the Alps. You can see the St.Gallen Reihntal with Säntis as far as Lake Constance, the Alps of Austria, Switzerland, probably even as far as Italy and of course the Glarner Alps.

The Augstenberg is ideal for a hike on the Fürstin-Gina-Weg. If you follow the route from the mountain station Sareis you have to pass the Augstenberg or "over it". As a reward, a nice descent to the Pfälzer Hütte awaits you. If you want, you can tackle the Naafkopf afterwards.

The summit is quite easy to reach and offers a great panoramic view of three countries.

Magnificent climb to a wonderful mountain. Unfortunately there is a lot of traffic when the weather is nice because the mountain is not really difficult. Tip to go hiking at off-peak times 😉

I went up from the west side and in mid-October some shady spots were already icy.

The ascent to the Augstenberg via the Fürstin-Gina-Weg is a very beautiful and varied path. It is a nice narrow mountain trail and you should bring some vertigo. The view is wonderful on the whole way and started from the Sareiserjoch via the Fürstin-Gina-Weg to the Augstenberg the way up is really cool rocky, that's what I really like.
