According to legend, a statue of Mary, written as Pieta, was found in an old linden tree. Legend has it that the place name Marialinden is also explained. The Pieta was stored at her locality first in a holy house, later in a chapel. A pieta from 1400 to 1420, which is supposed to be the legendary pieta, is now exhibited in a niche in the right aisle of the church.
