A magical mountain lake: 56 hectares in size and up to 36 meters deep, it lies at 883 meters above sea level high above Scheffau in the middle of the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve. A hike around Hintersteiner See provides a deep insight.
On the south bank, the path climbs slightly and offers wonderful views of the turquoise water of the crystal-clear mountain lake. The north shore of the lake is accessible to everyone thanks to a road.
There is also a bathing beach here, the appeal of which lies in its naturalness. Being the most beautiful and cleanest natural swimming lake in Tyrol is honor enough for the Hintersteinersee in Scheffau.

Even in winter, the lake can be wonderfully and easily circumnavigate. Firm footwear provided.
Armed with a thermos flask full of mulled wine or apple punch and maybe a few delicious cookies, you can experience and enjoy this wonderfully beautiful spot of nature with all your senses ...
