The former work palace of the queens on the beautiful Lange Voorhout is now a museum and houses the permanent exhibition of the Netherlands' most famous graphic artist, M.C. Escher. Escher (1898-1972) is a master at drawing unreal situations and knows how to captivate everyone with his wonderful world. In his work, he makes water flow upwards, birds turn into fish, and people endlessly walk up and down the same staircase.

In the NRC of 23 February 2007, director Van Krimpen says: "I have neatly put on a small sign at the entrance of the Escher Museum that some of the works on display are not original. Yes, I'm not going to nail the facade. that it is full of facsimiles here! (…) We do exactly what Escher wants. The more reproductions, the better. " (Only ten of the 160 works on display are real.)
