Mountain biking

Especially during the bird migration season, the lapwing meadow acts like a magnet for water birds, waders and songbirds, which like to take a break here. Until a few years ago it was still intensively used farmland, then old raft ditches were opened and the former Ruhr floodplain area was watered again. During the breeding season, their namesake, the lapwing, are particularly noticeable: after a long absence they have returned to their old habitat. In 2014 storks even nested here for the first time.
