Abbey of the Holy Cross Herstelle

Herstelle Abbey is located next to the castle above the village.
The monastery shop only has limited opening hours (better find out online!).
The abbey church is open and you can also take part in the sisters' prayer times and services here.
Apart from the guest house, the abbey is not accessible as a retreat.

The abbey area is well worth seeing. Especially the monastery church, which was renovated in 2018 and is now very modern from the inside, but also very beautiful. The monastery shop is open at the weekend, there are To buy products from the monastery's own factories. By the way: In 1935 Konrad Adenauer found refuge in the abbey for a short time when he had to flee from the National Socialists.

The Abbey of the Holy Cross in Herstelle, a district of Beverungen in the Höxter district, is a Benedictine abbey in East Westphalia.
It is in the Archdiocese of Paderborn and belongs to the Beuron Congregation.
