During World War II, American soldiers dug foxholes and trenches here to find protection from enemy fire. The so-called “Foxholes” bear witness to the battle around Bastogne in the winter of 1944/1945.

Hiking

This memorial was built to honor the fallen soldiers of Easy Company. They risked their lives here from December 1944 to January 1945 to prevent the German units from advancing towards Bastogne. The so-called foxholes, which can still be seen in the Bois Jacques today and were intended to serve as protection for the soldiers from their attackers, suddenly take you back to that time.
