The Mardasson Memorial has adorned Mardasson Hill in Bastogne since 1950. The five-pointed star symbolizes the famous and lasting friendship between Belgians and Americans, who fought together here in the Battle of the Bulge from December 1944 to January 1945.

Memorial to the Battle of the Bulge.
Definitely worth taking in the landscape on the terrace.
Know that fierce battles were fought here at a strategic crossroads in the Ardennes.

Built, according to the plans of the architect Georges Dedoyard, in the shape of a star, the signature sign of the Allied troops during the liberation campaign (evocation of the American flag ), on a natural elevation along the river Wiltz , the monument bears the Latin inscription “ populus belgicus memor liberatoribus americanis ”. The monument's pediment, exterior and interior, is inscribed with the names of all the member states of the United States of America, including those (Alaska, Hawaii) that joined the union after the war.
