On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the garden city, the DWH organized the exhibition “Small House and Small Apartment” in 1935. Not far from the market, 15 wooden houses were built on a forest hill on the sunny slope. The Hellerau workshops also produced all of the equipment. The aim here was to demonstrate by way of example that it is possible to build well-designed homes with little money. DWH built around 360 wooden houses, including 41 in Prohlis and 45 in Leubnitz-Neuostra. Wilhelm Kreis was one of the architects in Hellerau, among others. known from the German Hygiene Museum. After the exhibition ended, everything was preserved as a permanent settlement. More houses were added, most recently in 2009 with the new building at Am Markt 7.
