Tips

  • Bergziege

A beautiful view of the Geratal on the city Plaue. In good visibility, the entire western half of the Thuringian Forest is visible including the Great Island Mountain.

Great panoramic view from the pulpit.
One of my absolute favorite places in Thuringia.
Benches to take a break and a refuge nearby

Beautiful tour for beginners who want to see a lot. Starting at the Kunstwanderweg you will be "gently" transferred to nature. Since the track from the ground is versatile, you can well test the new (beginner) equipment here, but you can reach the finish even with good sneakers. This way is definitely fun. Extra tip: There are also geocaches on the way.

    View from the Reinsberg (pulpit)

The Reinsberge were formed from rocks of Triassic formation. They consist mainly of shell limestone. Over the course of the millennia, the weather has formed partly bizarre rocks that resemble those in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. One result of these rock formations is a karst spring on the western slope of the Reinsberg, the Spring of Plaue (Wikipedia).

East of Plaue rise the Reinsberge - a shell limestone rock with an average height of 600 meters.
There is a vantage point on it - the pulpit - from which you have a wonderful view of the area of the Wachsenburg in the north-west over the Gosseler Plateau, the Plauesche Grund and the surrounding villages and the Thuringian mountains in the south-west.
All the surrounding towns and mountains are named on a compass rose.
It takes about 40 minutes to climb to the pulpit from the center of Plaue or from the train station.

Magnificent view from the pulpit. The ascent is very sporty and therefore well deserved.

I see two unfinished canoes there. Good that art can be interpreted multiple times.
