With more than three square kilometers of water surface, the Neuendorfer See is the largest lake in the Spreewald biosphere reserve. At the same time, it is the only lake with a natural connection to the Spree water network. In the east, the outflow is via the Krumme Spree. Due to its richness in nutrients, an extraordinary biotope and species diversity has developed here (aquatic plants, mollusc and fish fauna, waterfowl).
