The ferry was restored, and the actual floating hull was lifted out of the water and propped up. The ferry was built in 1936 (unfortunately, it suffered extensive damage during the Second World War), and service was discontinued only in 1993. A very well-maintained facility!

The ferry was one of the fiber factories, where the Reichswehr already from the late 1920s - so even before the Nazis! - started with covert armaments production contrary to the Versailles regulations. After the Ravensbrück concentration camp was later laid out on the other side of the Havel, concentration camp inmates came to the forced labor service and were transported from the warehouse to the factory and back every day with this same ferry. This makes it an excellent example of the fusion of interests of the German economy with the military, armaments production and exploitation of concentration camp inmates and forced laborers.

Very interesting for technology enthusiasts, but also very clear.
