After we have descended from the forest to Oefte Castle, where an unfriendly golf attendant is lying in wait for us, we cross the "golf zone" past the associated shop, climb over the currently devastated forest worker area to the mouth of the Oeftem an der Ruhr. Here we can expect a chained but possessable ensemble of table and chairs with a wonderful unobstructed view of the river and the estuary.
Schloss Oefte itself remains exclusively repellent, but can be circled on all sides.
"Schloss Oefte With its first documentary mention in the 9th century, Schloss Oefte is one of the oldest manor houses in the region. The castle complex, including the park, which is a listed building, is now used by a golf club." (Info Kettwiger Panoramasteig)
