"The Pilghauser Bach, called the Katternberger Bach in the 19th century, is a river in the Bergisch city of Solingen. It is named after the three Pilghauser farmsteads through which it flows.

The Pilghauser Bach valley is accessible via hiking and forest trails in the area, such as the circular hiking trail through the Pilghauser and Nacker Bach valley (Solingen) with the SGV sign of a white circle on a black background.

Due to its small size, the Pilghauser Bach was only of minor importance for the use of hydropower. Only with the advancement of technology and the increasing exhaustion of the capacities of the other Solingen streams such as the Nacker Bach were four water power plants built on the Pilghauser Bach in the middle of the 19th century. These included the Pilghauser Kotten, the Bernskotten, the Neuenhauser Kotten and the Brücker Mühle, for all of which a concession was applied for in 1846. The industrial use of hydropower ended in the 20th century with the cessation of the last grinding or milling operation. ..."
