Located at an altitude of 74 m on "Hoogboekhout" and dating from 1785. It was built by Jozef Van Lierde on a site where there used to be a wooden mill.

In 1942 this stone mill was protected as a monument; until 1950 it was milled. In 1957-1958 it was restored by Dr Cuvelier and again in 1993 by the current owner, Dirk Nevens.

The name “Old mill” is used to distinguish this mill from the De Vis mill on the Boekhoutberg, which was built in 1827. Before 1413 there was a wooden windmill that was leased by the monks of the Affligem abbey. In 1633 it came with the house and the stables in private hands.

The current stone mill with arched windows replaced the wooden post mill in 1785. It was built by Adriaan's grandson, Jozef Van Lierde, who died that same year before his life's work was completed. The mill is of the top porter type. It is located at an altitude of 74 m above sea level. Due to its strategic location and its height of 15 m, it was often used as an observation post during the many wars. For that reason it was often damaged by advancing armies.

In 1830 the children of Jozef Van Lierde sold the mill. The new owner was Jan Baptist De Vis, son of Judocus who had the "new" mill built on the Boekhoutberg. It remained in use until 1952.

The current owner has beautifully restored the mill and has been used as a home since 1994. His ancestors came here to deliver grain. He himself now and then has to do real milling work to prevent the decay of his remarkable house.
