In the years 1888-1890 the new town hall was built. The old town hall, built in 1741, no longer met the demands of the steadily growing city and its extensive tasks.

The prosperity as well as the self-confidence of the city and citizens are reflected in the lavish and representative building with tower and bay windows.

Initially, the town hall was used exclusively as an entertainment venue. It was not until 1909 that rooms were created for the mayor and the police.

A complete renovation of the building that began in 2005 was completed in 2010. With its town hall, the city and its citizens not only have a modern administrative center, which also meets the increased demands of the incorporations, it is also available to all interested parties as a cultural center.

While there was an open stage for popular events in the inner courtyard of the historic town hall, today there is a technically well-equipped event room in the historic town hall hall with adjoining conference rooms.

In addition to an elevator that grants handicapped access to all floors, special emphasis was placed on the preservation of historical elements for all the technical and optical equipment in the building.
