Schloss Landsberg is the former pleasure palace of the dukes of Sachsen-Meiningen. The castle was built in the early 19th century on the ruins of a former castle in the style of English noble seats. Since the 1970s, the castle was used as a hotel, but after several changes of ownership, it had to be closed in 2013 due to low occupancy. Shortly thereafter, it was sold again and is currently undergoing monumental renovation and expanded as a modern hotel. On your walk, you can still admire the castle from the outside.

Unfortunately, Landsberg Castle, the former summer residence of the Dukes of Saxony-Meiningen, is now quite deserted on the hilltop.
One can only hope that things will improve in a good way before the building structure is threatened.

The neo-Gothic building, built between 1836 and 1840, was built during the period of European castle romanticism, the most famous examples of which include Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenzollern Castle. Other sources of inspiration for the building, however, came from England.
