The Celle Palace Theater is a court theater created during the renovation and baroque era of the Celle Castle. It was founded in the years 1670 to 1674/75 on the initiative of the opera lover Georg Wilhelm, Prince of Lüneburg from the House of Brunswick and Lüneburg. After a heyday in the 18th century with a firm ensemble, the performances went back more and more, until the neglected house in 1890 stopped the game operation completely. In 1935 it was extensively renovated and revived. The baroque theater with its horseshoe-shaped auditorium modeled after the Italian model is one of the oldest theater buildings in Europe. (Wikiped.)
