The mighty castle towers over a kilometer long - exactly 1051 meters - over the listed old town. The families of the Lower Bavarian Dukes of Wittelsbach lived here more than 500 years ago, most recently the Duchess Hedwig, who was famous for the Landshut wedding. Today, the castle is considered the longest castle in the world and home to many castle houses (approx. 200 people live in the castle).
