Memory of past times. The Bavarian-Czech border position once consisted of almost 100 bunkers and formed the security of the eastern flank in the 1930s. Not much is left of it, but here you can see one of the rare contemporary witnesses.

The concrete bunkers are relics of the so-called Bavarian-Czech border position, which were built between 1935 and 1937 to secure the eastern flank of the empire on the occasion of the breach of the Versailles Treaty on March 16, 1935 with the law "for the establishment of the Wehrmacht". The construction of the German resistance line at the border began in autumn 1935, this resistance line consisted of a series of bunkers with wire obstacles in front of it. mittelbayerische.de/bayern-nachrichten/relikte-des-nazi-verschlußungswahns-21705-art842120.html

Log house Sil2 of the "Bavarian-Czech border position" from 1937. The construction costs at that time were 1600 Reichsmarks. One of 26 log houses that were built in the past. Served to defend the secondary routes to the main battle line. Some were acquired by the forest after 1938 and used as a shelter for hunters or hikers. During the Cold War, they were a popular port of call for foot patrols from the Federal Border Guard, especially in winter.
