The castle dates back to the 4th century and has been a castle ruin since a fire in 1682. Since then it has not been restored to its original form but has been renovated and converted into a restaurant. As a former Roman Castel, the restaurant still houses part of its history, and the kitchen team conjures up modern dishes inspired by Roman and rustic cuisine.

I can only recommend the way to the castle. But you should once through Bernkastel-Kues duch and then leads a path of about 2.5 km through a forest. The way is steep but afterwards, so you can make a good climb. From the castle down we went another way. He was at the castle on the left down .... goes very steep down ... you get sore muscles in the calves and tibia ... But then you come directly in the village below. High I would not go up the steep path to the castle. All those who came and were neat out of breath. It was much better through the forest path.

The landmark towers high above the picturesque town of Bernkastel - the ruins of Burg Landshut, on a rocky outcrop of around 60 m. The castle ruins are one of the oldest structures on the Moselle. It was built in 1276 and, according to the latest finds, even partially on a fort from the 4th or 5th century. The castle ruins can be easily reached on foot, with the Burg Landshut Express or by car.Once at the top, the accessible keep offers a fascinating and probably unique view of the entire Moselle valley. In today's inner part of the castle there is a restaurant. If you want, you can climb the tower for € 1 and enjoy the all-round view.

Pretty ruined castle with interesting information.
The restaurant is closed until further notice.
The castle ruins can be accessed free of charge, but you have to pay to climb the tower.
