On reaching the summit

Pass with very beautiful views. Slopes at times significant.

The Col de Vars does not offer quite as spectacular views and landscape as the nearby Col d'Izoard or Col de la Bonette, but it is still worth driving. From the north, the ascent from the Durance valley is quite demanding, but also very beautiful and promising at the beginning. Later there is a short incline and the Vars ski station is not exactly nice in summer. The descent into the Ubaye valley is pleasant to drive.

Quite demanding as an intermediate pass before the bonette. The section from Vars to the pass is nice to drive and the descent to the south is attractive. Only the many mosquitoes annoyed at the beginning of July 2021 😠.
