The Sterntaler Filze is one of the Rosenheim trunk basin bogs and was created when the Rosenheimer See silted up after the Inn glacier retreated. In 2021 this area was added to the ranks of "Wetlands of International Importance". Unique flora and fauna grow in the moor landscape and the moor also serves as a habitat for many bird species. For example, black, brown, blue and robins live in the area, which is why it is also called "Vierkehlchenland".
