Hiking Highlight (Segment)
In Samatz there is a great café to stop for coffee and cake later. Is near the hiking trail.

Wonderful heathland (former Hutewald) in the middle of the Göhrde. In addition to the heather, there are many old sessile oaks in the Breeser Grund. A magical landscape in the largest contiguous forest area in Northern Germany. For me one of the most beautiful and magical places in Wendland.

Note on the tip of 'susawill': Damnatz, not Samatz, is around 30 minutes away (by car); The “great” café we are talking about is located directly on the Elbe and can be reached on foot from Breeser Grund after a nice hike in around 5:30 minutes, after 26.8 kilometers.

The Breeser Grund in the Göhrde is a bizarre-looking "fairy tale forest" with many tousled, rotten oaks. "Deadwood full of life" can be read. Almost 400 beetles are at home here, many specializing in decomposing dead wood. And because the Breeser Grund has been left to its own devices for decades, this cultural landscape seems to me like a “sculpture park” in which I could spend hours only for a photo session.
