Stunning climb and descent with amazing views of the Jurassic coast. There is plenty of laybys at the top to stop and admire the view (while catching your breath!). There was even an ice-cream van at the top when I visited. The climb gets steeper as it gets higher but is never too steep with a sensible gear ratio. Just be careful not to go out too hard on the first section as the majority of the climb is hidden around the corner.

Indeed an extraodinary road. better - if you're cycling without lots of impatient traffic going far too fast. It's very difficult not to want to stop in the layby here to take a picture looking down onto Chesil beach and the fleet and village of Abbotsbury, even though you've stopped here many times before

Went up this yesterday. Bank holiday traffic made the road pretty busy, but all the drivers seemed couteous and patient. So didn't feel pressured as I slogged up. My 34/28 gearing was stretching my ability on this long hill, for sure.
