This two-level cable car is a very special attraction, because in the upper section, the gondola turns once around its own axis, so that everyone can look in any direction. But beware - even in low season, there are some passengers, so you do not have to wait long, but the gondolas are full. I do not want to know what's going on in midsummer. The climb takes, however, especially since you have to change. If you then have to wait for both gondolas go ever 40 minutes each direction into the country.

The cable car Monte Baldo is divided into two sections: the first, Malcesine - S. Michele with 1512 m length and 463 m height difference, the second, S. Michele - Monte Baldo, with 2813 m length and 1187 m height difference.
The considerable height difference over the entire distance (1650 m) is overcome over a distance of altogether 4325 m with a travel time of only 10 minutes.

We were there almost every season except midsummer in August. At the valley station is often crowded, even when driving through Malcesine. We are then right after St. Michele, have parked there and then the second section high.

We recommend already to be there at 8 o'clock to go up with the first cable cars, otherwise waiting times of 4 hours and more are not uncommon (in high season).
If you buy your tickets at 8 o'clock (until 9 o'clock) you get even a reduced price on the tickets. That really makes a difference, especially if you as a family have to spend a bit of money: eg. Malcesine - Monte Baldo round trip instead of 22 € only 15 €. Supposedly you should have devalued his card to 9.30 clock, but we are only after 9.30 clock drove us that went well.

Start with the very first train or pre-book on the Internet.
Otherwise waiting times from about 1.5 hours

Monta Baldo, just under 2200m high, exit by cable car to almost 1850m. There is the possibility to take a very steep, rocky and difficult trail or ride the cable car to enjoy the more than fantastic view. However, the climb is only recommended with very good footwear and good kick. The ride on the cable car is also worthwhile, - the view. You drive about 1/3 to a stopover, from there you climb to a 360 ° rotating cable car.

As an enthusiastic hiker I can recommend to climb the Monte Baldo by foot and take the gondola only back to the valley. The crowd at the mountain station is not so big and the waiting times usually only short. During the climb you will be rewarded with a magnificent view. For the entire route you should easily plan for three and a half hours, but well-trained can do it in two and a half. Remember, there are at least 1600 altitude difference! From a descent I strongly advise, this is much more exhausting and the soreness remains over days! In addition, the risk of injury is enormous in damp ground!

Descent from 16.00 clock only 10, - €. But beware, you have to say that you want to go down to the bottom. Otherwise you may get a card to the middle station.

This cableway has existed since 1962, but it was completely modernized in 2002. It makes the fabulous view accessible to everyone, which, from over 1700 m, is on Lake Garda.

Grandiose view - Attention behind the cable car really starts the high mountains - solid shoes and warm and weatherproof clothing are on another tour from there duty, sit down and look like the people get off the train and freezing or with battered feet in the next train to escape the wild mountains :-)

The ride on the cable car also gives great views. However, one should be aware that it is at times similar to a sardine can and the snakes are often really long before boarding. Better off season or early in the morning.

From Malcesine, a cable car leads to Mount Baldo, which is used by tourists, hikers and ultimately cyclists who use various gravel roads as downhill trails. As a starting point for paragliders, the Monte Baldo is extremely popular because of its easy accessibility via the cable car and the enormous height difference (1680 m) to the landing site in Malcesine. Safety training sessions on water are regularly held here.

The cable car station on Monte Baldo offers passenger transport and a restaurant with a large terrace. Not to mention the magnificent view of Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains.
It is also possible to go there on various signposted routes to hikes, or, e. also walk down to the cable car middle station.
