The picturesque old town of Ribeauvillé is characterized by half-timbered houses and numerous buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries. Dominating medieval monuments are the parish church of St.-Grégoire-le-Grand and the Tour des Bouchers (Metzgerturm - both from the 13th century). The town is dominated by the three castle ruins Ulrichsburg, Girsberg and Hohrappoltstein (Château de Saint-Ulrich, du Girsberg, and de Haut-Ribeaupierre).

The place is beautiful and picturesque. The colorful, candy-colored houses with the many flowers on the window sills are unparalleled. Unfortunately, the gastronomy in the pedestrian area of the city center has degenerated into a tourist trap.

Very beautiful medieval town with many typical Alsatian half-timbered houses.
The 13th century butcher's tower, which is also the landmark of Ribeauvillé, stands out.
Furthermore, the three castle ruins Ulrichsburg, the castle Guirsberg and the highest situated castle Ribeaupierre above the town.

Numerous festivals structure the calendar of events in this place, and above all the «Pfifferdaj» (festival of the town musicians). The "Pfifferdaj" keeps alive the memory of the meeting of the professional association of town musicians, which has met in Ribeauvillé since 1481 to elect its king.
This festival, which is the oldest in Alsace and which alternates the parade and brass bands (depending on a theme that is different each year and linked to the Middle Ages), still takes place in Ribeauvillé every first Sunday in September.

Picturesque wine village with many cozy wine bars and restaurants and very well-kept half-timbered houses. Stork nests can be seen everywhere. A real "tourist paradise".
Has almost something of a museum ...
The place is, however, very crowded during the holiday season and / or weekend.
