The canoe sports facility Bischofsmühle was built during a necessary renovation of the Innerste weir in 1982. Some members of the canoe and sailing guild Hildesheim then saw their time and started with a violent persuasion for the construction of the canoe sports facility.

The KSGH created the necessary infrastructure with the creation of sanitary containers and a regatta or seminar container.
Since the opening, annual slalom and white water regattas, as well as ranking list races of the German Canoe Association, have taken place. But equally important are the safety training courses of the canoe associations, as well as the education of schools and universities. The working group of the Hildesheim schools uses the canoe sports facility in the mornings of the week and here also allows the students to pass the Sport Abitur.
The KSGH offers overnight accommodation at its clubhouse in Lönsbruch for well-known canoeists.
In the 2002 season, a new sanitary facilities and a jetty was built.
It is now possible to reach by boat on the Innerste after about 1.5 km with a Umtragung the canoe sports Bischofsmühle.
