Bike Touring Highlight
Just a place to linger. For several years I have crossed this bridge several times. It is located in the middle of the Lüneburg Ilmenau floodplain and is an ideal crossing place if you want to change sides.

At the "Teufesbrücke" a new information sign is set up for the history of the Teufelsbrücke. It was built in 1893/94 and was long popularly called the "Black Bridge", originally the bridge was painted black. The "Lüneburger Beautification Association of 1887" was based on the initiative of the Royal Chief Forester Hermann Busse. Here in retirement in Lüneburg he had the idea to renaturate the Bockelsberg. The Bockelsberg was a sandpit with isolated pines. Fish ponds were created, reforested and the Devil's Bridge was built. Today's picture of the west side of the Ilmenau around the Bockelsberg is due to Hermann Busse and his founded club. There is also a legend about the birth of Bockelsberg.
