The Dammkarhütte, a fourth-generation family business, has delighted hikers, climbers and skiers alike since it opened in 1950. Located at an altitude of 1,650 metres in the Karwendel Mountains, it offers an ideal starting point or stopover for numerous mountain activities. Although the hut only sleeps ten, it is a popular destination, making advance booking essential. The hut attracts not only with its stunning views of the surrounding rock faces, but also with its traditional cuisine. The isolation adds to the charm, as there is no cell phone reception, which offers a welcome break from the digital world. The Dammkarhütte can be reached via various routes from Mittenwald, with the hike taking around two hours depending on the route. The proximity to various climbing routes and the opportunity to enjoy the skiing delights of the Dammkar in winter make it a versatile destination for mountain lovers.
