Wüstfeld with 270 inhabitants was first mentioned in 1388 as "Wustinfelde". The place was owned by the monastery Hersfeld and later fief of those of Romrod. After the Thirty Years War, it came with the Office Landeck to the county Hesse-Kassel. The landmark of Wüstfeld, which can be seen from afar, is the 22 m high water tower built in 1932, today a technical monument.
