The Pfalzgrafenstein is a former toll castle in the middle of the Rhine, part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Site. April 2022: The cycle path is free up to Lorch. After that, the diversion must be taken indefinitely via Pressberg or the ferry to Niederheimbach due to the full closure of the B42. The diversion to Pressberg is only for experienced hikers, as the route leads over a steep serpentine climb (approx. 400 m ascent). This is also the official detour for the cars.
