Drive by car or bus to Capo Caccia and then take the grueling descent to the Grotte di Nettuno. The path itself is worth it, the grotto itself is also worth seeing, but there are more beautiful and less expensive ones in Sardinia. All in all, however, an experience.

The grotto, located just one meter above sea level, opens at the foot of an impressive 110-meter-high cliff and is only accessible on days with calm seas. For those seeking adventure, the spectacular descent via the "Escala del Cabirol," the Deer's Ladder, is a must. With 654 steps etched almost vertically into the cliff face, this path is not only a challenge but also an experience in itself. Many have reported how impressive this descent alone is, allowing you to watch the boats dock and get a first glimpse of the cave formations. If you prefer a more leisurely approach, you can also book a boat tour from Alghero or drive or bus to Capo Caccia, starting from a nearby parking lot.Inside the grotto, you'll find an extensive cave system approximately four kilometers long. However, only a small part of it is accessible to visitors. During a guided tour, you can marvel at the fascinating stalactite formations and travertine deposits. A special highlight is the small saltwater lake, which is directly connected to the sea. Informative commentary is provided via permanently installed loudspeakers in Italian, English, and German.Although there are certainly other impressive and less expensive caves in Sardinia, the Grotta di Nettuno remains an unforgettable experience. The breathtaking descent, the turquoise sea, and the mysterious interior of the grotto promise an adventure you won't soon forget.
