In 1840, the Prussian Minister Christian Rother established the Rother Foundation. This foundation was intended to provide housing for unmarried daughters of officers and civil servants in old age. Due to inflation after World War I, the foundation was forced to sell parts of the property. Today the old building and a modern new building are on the property.
